A Ratchet is a tool. Because a ratchet is a tool, it can be used to build, modify, maintain, or dismantle. 

Wretched is a state of being. Quite famously, in the song Amazing Grace, people call themselves ” a wretch like me” with enthusiasm. It is heard around the world quite often. Especially on Sundays. Sometimes, we just hum it.

Both are examples of  “Everyday usage”. 

“Wretched”  became “Ratchet”  via misunderstanding an elder’s pronunciation. Heavy Louisiana accents abound. We even think in it.

Wretched and Ratchet never meant the same thing in any dictionary. 

So, let’s build. Let’s cooperate. Let’s Eat.
